چکیده

The dynamical properties of a diluted fully-inhibitory network of pulse-coupled neurons are investigated. Depending on the coupling strength, two different phases can be observed. At low coupling the evolution rapidly converges towards periodic attractors where all neurons fire with the same rate. At larger couplings, a new phase emerges, where all neurons are mutually unlocked. The irregular behaviour turns out to be “confined” to an exponentially long, stationary and linearly stable transient. In this latter phase we also find an exponentially tailed distribution of the interspike intervals (ISIs). Finally, we show that in the unlocked phase a subset of the neurons can be eventually synchronized under the action of an external signal, the remaining part of the neurons acting as a background noise. The dynamics of these ”background” neurons is quite peculiar, in that it reveals a broad ISI distribution with a coefficient of variation that is close to 1.

Retrieval and Chaos in Extremely Diluted Non-Monotonic Neural Networks

We discuss, in this paper, the dynamical properties of extremely diluted, non-monotonic neural networks. Assuming parallel updating and the Hebb prescription for the synaptic connections, a flow equation for the macroscopic overlap is derived. A rich dynamical phase diagram, was obtained, showing a stable retrieval phase, as well as a cycle two and chaotic behavior. Numerical simulations were p...

Comparison Study on Neural Networks in Damage Detection of Steel Truss Bridge

This paper presents the application of three main Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) in damage detection of steel bridges. This method has the ability to indicate damage in structural elements due to a localized change of stiffness called damage zone. The changes in structural response is used to identify the states of structural damage. To circumvent the difficulty arising from the non-linear n...

Dynamic Sliding Mode Control of Nonlinear Systems Using Neural Networks

Dynamic sliding mode control (DSMC) of nonlinear systems using neural networks is proposed. In DSMC the chattering is removed due to the integrator which is placed before the input control signal of the plant. However, in DSMC the augmented system is one dimension bigger than the actual system i.e. the states number of augmented system is more than the actual system and then to control of such ...

Optimally adapted multi-state neural networks trained with noise

The principle of adaptation in a noisy retrieval environment is extended here to a diluted attractor neural network of Q-state neurons trained with noisy data. The network is adapted to an appropriate noisy training overlap and training activity, which are determined self-consistently by the optimized retrieval attractor overlap and activity. The optimized storage capacity and the corresponding...

Chimera-like States in Modular Neural Networks

Chimera states, namely the coexistence of coherent and incoherent behavior, were previously analyzed in complex networks. However, they have not been extensively studied in modular networks. Here, we consider a neural network inspired by the connectome of the C. elegans soil worm, organized into six interconnected communities, where neurons obey chaotic bursting dynamics. Neurons are assumed to...
